Christian Education Vision Statement
Grounded in Biblical faith, we are on a vibrant journey. In our classrooms, congregation and homes we connect the word of God to our daily lives.
We are actively engaged in service to each other and our community.
We encourage questions to build belief and strengthen our relationships with those whose lives we touch.
Teaching about faith is at the core of our Christian Education and Sunday School program. At NFCC, we accomplish this by teaching from scripture, attempting to live up to Christian ideals and supporting others through service in our community. We learn about God through study, fellowship, laughter, tears, music, games and service. Our church is a very active place. Whether in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Worship, youth group, or fellowship hour, our children are accepted for who they are and treated as a vital part of our Church family. Our children are encouraged to treat each person with respect and to reach out to those in need. Our hope is to bring the light of God’s love into all who enter and become part of our family of faith. It is a joy to be a part of this Church!
Our children from grades PK through grade 5 use a Bible story based curriculum which includes reading, art, games, and a variety of engaging activities. Grades 6-8 work with their teacher to determine topics of study that they care about to encourage them on their faith journey.
At the heart of our Church School program are our wonderful volunteers. The loving environment they create provides a sacred space where children can explore, question and experience the Spirit in their own ways while learning the value of Christian community. Our style is welcoming and open-minded and our environment is safe and compassionate.
Our youth ministry (grades 5 and up) program is a great way for kids to have fun together, play games, share a meal, participate in service and talk about things that matter to them. We also frequently take trips to go bowling, skating, rock climbing and a variety of seasonal activities as well as participate in service projects. We usually meet twice a month and we can email you our current schedule. Our kids are busy and sometimes they are faced with challenges and stress. We endeavor to create a space where they can relax, share, serve others and be accepted for who they are. Friends are always welcome at our activities. Youth Ministry members also help with Sunday School, Greet/Usher and read at services, help out at special events and participate in the life of our church as much as possible. At NFCC we want our kids to know that they are not just the church of the future, they are the church right now!
